How To Wire Keyless Entry

Install Keyless Entry System
My background: I have installed stereo systems into vehicles, I have wired homes, and home automation. Wiring in general does not scare me. The model I chose was the Bulldog Security KE1702 Remote Keyless Entry from Sam's Club for $32.83 shipped to my doorstep. When it arrived, I opened it and was pleasantly surprised on how nice everything was. Gotta admit, the wires looked intimidating. Out of the 13 wires, I only used 9.
Some were spliced as two. Here are a few pictures of the unit and the key fob. The truck uses reverse polarity meaning you need to hook up more wires, two to be exact. I pulled the switch on the door by gently prying. I tested every wire so I knew what I was working with.
The switch has 7 wires. Two for the lights within the switch, one for power, two grounds, and two for the unlock and lock. The unlock wire is pink/light green and the lock wire is pink/yellow. I literally had to tear the bottom of the dashboard apart to find this harness.
It can be found above the E-brake right next to the firewall. I sliced the side of the wire and Ohm tested it to make sure it was the same wire from the switch to the one under the dash, it was. I cut them in half.

I found the lower side of the wire to have power. I connected the wires accordingly. I connected the other wires as well. They were specific on going to the switch side which had the power, and then the actuator side which had no power.
I had power already in the area due to fog lights and a switch in my dash. I connected the two 12V constant wires to the hot from the battery. Two fuses were on this line. I attached the ground to the other wire which I also ran from the firewall. I mounted the box up high right by the harness that was needed. I used double sided tape and stuck it up there and I mean, it is up there. Nice flat spot and all.

You can see that spot right above the two connections I made to the wires. The zip tie is pointing to it. Overall, I was happy with the product. It locks and unlocks as it should. It did have an optional starter disable that came with it. I did not hook it up in case I did not have a key fob on me and used a spare or backup key that my truck would still work.
It took me two hours due to the dashboard and finding the damn wires. Download driver modem huawei ce0682. That is about it.
If you have questions, feel free to ask. Word of advice. You will need to jump start your vehicle after you install this with the door open that long and all of the lights on, plus a plug in cig. Light so I could see.
